Welcome

The Nature Resort offers a tranquil, comfortable, and relaxing retreat where you can immerse yourself in nature alongside the black howler monkeys, locally known as baboons. Nestled in a lush rainforest, the property is abundant with leaves, flowers, and vines that the monkeys love to forage on. At the Resort, you’re guaranteed close encounters with these fascinating creatures, especially from January to June, when you can often see them right from your cabana balcony. The area is also a haven for birdwatchers, with species such as hummingbirds, parrots, jays, seed eaters, oropendolas, and kiskadees nesting and feeding around the cabanas. Additionally, you can explore our beautiful surroundings on one of our nature trails.

Located within the Community Baboon Sanctuary (CBS) along the historical Belize River Valley, the Nature Resort is just 26 miles from Belize City. It’s conveniently situated off the road through Bermudian Landing, a mere half-minute from the CBS Museum. Only sixteen miles from the international airport, the Nature Resort is a favored stop for tourists heading to Placencia or other southern or coastal destinations(San Pedro, Caye Caulker and other cayes)  in Belize, whether at the beginning or end of their trips. Shuttle services to and from the airport can be arranged in advance for your convenience.

Established in 1996, the Nature Resort is a family-owned and operated business. Mrs. Drina Young and Mr. Alvin Young were pioneers in offering bed-and-breakfast services to researchers and visitors to the Sanctuary as early as 1984. Renowned for their Belizean cuisine and friendly hospitality, the family has expanded the Resort to include twelve comfortable rooms, each equipped with air conditioning and hot and cold showers.

Now managed by Dr. Roy Young, the son of Drina and Alvin, the Nature Resort continues its legacy of exceptional service. Dr. Young, who grew up on the property, has a wealth of knowledge about the region’s history, local attractions, flora and fauna, and available tours. A Cornell University-trained educator and researcher, he can also provide insights into other parts of Belize you might be visiting.

We invite you to “Come nest in nature” and experience the serene beauty and warm hospitality of the Nature Resort.
